First Graders Have A Lot to Teach!

3/8/2019

To go along with nonfiction reading, first graders have learned to write all they know about nonfiction topics!  They have proven to be experts in many different ways.  The writing process may look the same: planning with your voice, planning with drawings, and then writing all you can!  However, first graders are taking it one step further by learning to plan with facts, use diagrams to teach the reader with pictures, and writing more facts to support their diagrams.  Nonfiction writers are teachers to their audience.  Writers must ask themselves: Who am I writing for (who is my audience)? and What questions will my audience have?  During the publishing process this week, students have also learned how to create glossaries, table of contents, and bold important words.
