First grade learned about early 20th century farm living while visiting Fosterfields Historical Living Farm in Morristown on Wednesday. The docents were dressed in period clothing and told many stories to the children about the former owners of the farm. Meeting farm animals such as Jersey cows, draft horses, pigs, and chickens was definitely a highlight of the day! The children experienced firsthand some of the chores of the time period such as corn cracking, butter churning, and washing and drying laundry, and cleaning a horse harness with sheep wool. It was a wonderful day filled with beautiful weather and colorful autumn scenery.
