It was a wonderful week in first grade! Old friends got reacquainted and some new friendships began. The classrooms were explored, routines practiced, and special classes visited. Our first graders participated in Responsive Classroom meetings that included greeting one another, sharing news, playing activities, and reading morning messages together. A friendship activity that all first graders did was a survey. Each child interviewed classmates to find out preferences such as; who likes ice cream, likes to read, likes baseball, likes cookies, to swim, etc. We are off to a great start building our classroom communities and the grade as a whole.
