First Grade Writes Teaching Books

10/26/2016

Picture
This week the first grade transitioned from narrative writing into non-fiction.  The children are thinking about what it means to be an expert in something and then writing to teach their skill.   The process includes thinking about what supplies are necessary, and the steps a reader should take to successfully complete a task.  Planning is the first part of writing a How-To book, then comes the writing, and finally,  checking with others that all the necessary information is included.  Some examples of our expert books so far include; How To Become Green, How To Brush Your Teeth, How To Take Care of a Dog, and How to Bake Cookies.
